COMPLEX DENTAL SURGERY PERFORMED AT MAHANANDAN HOSPITAL

In a landmark case that underscores the importance of inclusive and specialized healthcare, Mahanandan Super Speciality Hospital successfully performed a complex dental procedure under general anesthesia on a 20-year-old autistic patient, Mr. Deep Jyoth Singh. This case highlights the hospital's expertise in delivering advanced care tailored to patients with special needs.

Mr. Singh was admitted on April 1, 2025, with severe dental pain and was diagnosed with partial edentulism and irreversible pulpitis. Given the sensory and behavioral challenges associated with autism, the dental team opted to perform the procedure under general anesthesia to ensure the patient's safety, comfort, and cooperation. The surgery was conducted on April 2, 2025, by a highly skilled multidisciplinary team comprising dental surgeons Dr. Digvijay, Dr. Raghvi, Dr. Prateek, Dr. Jaspreet, Dr. Sidra, Dr. Arushi, and Rahul, along with the Anesthesia and Critical Care team consisting of Dr. Abhishek Deshwal, Dr. Prasanta Borthakur and Dr. Amit.

The treatment plan included the extraction of six teeth (27, 28, 31, 32, 41, and 42), root canal treatment of six teeth (13, 14, 17, 22, 23, and 24), and placement of II dental implants-eight in the lower jaw and three in the upper jaw. Impressively, the first eight implants were placed within just one hour, a testament to the precision and coordination of the team.

The entire procedure was completed in four hours without any complications. The patient recovered well and was discharged in stable condition on April 3, 2025.
